The Long Ride Home Cycle QLD!

6 Days to go until the official start!

With a tremendous amount of support from our friends and family who have rallied together, our fundraising total is almost $1700 so far!

Three of the ride participants, Lars, Les and Clarence discussed the course over some tasty Indian on Friday night and their effort will begin on Friday afternoon with 100km ride to the other side of Chinchilla. Dan and Trudy (and maybe an extra addition) will be joining the team at the start line on Saturday morning in Goondiwindi!

Bikes are ready, bags are getting packet and these last few days will tick by quickly.

You may ask where your money goes to? And what is the Forget Me Not Families Project?

Forget Me Not Children's Home rescued 13 children in July after uncovering corruption in the children's home they were in. Rather than walk away from funding this organisation, Forget Me Not took the brave step of working with the local authorities in Uganda to close down the organisation and remove the children.  Our Resettlement Team were able to find the lost families of 10 of these children - some of who did not know where their children had been for the last four years! The Forget Me Not Families Project was established to support these children living back with their families. It will provide counselling, schooling, food and medical care. The team will also work with the families to build their income generation potential thus ensuring they will be able to keep the children at home with them.  There are still more children to rescue ad reunify with their families - and that's why we're riding!

Little Stephen is certainly glad to be home with his family where he belongs!

Every child deserves to grow up in a loving and safe environment regardless of who they are and where their from!

For those that haven't had a chance to jump onto the Everyday Hero site and support us, here are the details. http://www.everydayhero.com.au/cycling_forget_me_nots

Thank you for supporting our five riders through their efforts to support the Forget Me Not Families Project in Uganda.
