SEPTEMBER FUNDRAISING NEWS

What a HUGE month September has been!

The Long Ride Home – 5 cyclists 1000km in 9 days!

It is a pleasure to report that all 5 cyclists returned home safe and sound after their 1000km of cycling from Goondiwindi to Brisbane. Their goal was to raise $8,000 to support the Forget Me Not Families Project. This was a project in serious need of funding to resettle the 25 children back in our care in Uganda. As promised the team cycled hard day after day and so far the total is close to $7,000 raised. The fundraising page is open for another week so if you haven’t had a chance to support them jump on now!

Sausage Sizzles

Sausage sizzles are still taking place thanks to Re-Use and Recycle who kindly donate their premises. Currently they run every fortnight and usually bring in $400 - $500 in one day. Thanks to those people that donated their time to hone their sausage flipping techniques! We are hoping to run these sausage sizzles more frequently but currently we are short on volunteers. If anybody wishes to volunteer to help out with a sausage sizzle your time would be greatly appreciated. Please contact George Olsen (sausage sizzle coordinator) on 0741254662 for more details.

Bridge to Brisbane Fundraising for Forget Me Not

This year for the first time we have had 2 people decide to fundraise for us in the Bridge to Brisbane 2011 run. This was held on the 11th September.
A big thanks to Sue Chen and the So Cool Team for raising $1050.00 for our projects and also to Nicole Tran for her efforts that raised close to $500.

Kids Helping Kids Day September 25th

Once again this years Kids Helping Kids day was a resounding success! This fundraising event has evolved from the idea of kids in the community having a fun day and knowing that they are supporting kids in other countries that are less fortunate than them.
With over 30 volunteers that helped in setup, running the day and pack down it was the volunteers and the time that they gave that made it a success!
We estimate that there was over 2000 people that enjoyed our festivities and we were entertained by some of Hervey Bay’s finest talent on the stage all day. A highlight was the Talent Quest showcasing some of Hervey Bay’s youngest and best artists.
A successful day full of community spirit and involvement and just over $8,000 raised for Forget Me Not! A warm and sincere thanks to ALL our volunteers, sponsors and supporters for Kids Helping Kids Day 2011.
