I never thought for a second that the first thing I would learn in Nepal was how to dance to Jennifer Lopez, as instructed by Rabina. On day 2 of meeting the girls, Rabina broke down each move and told me to practice before our return to the FMN home 2 days later.
So off I go leaving Kathmandu for Chitwan, with the dance moves firmly locked in my head. In between white water rafting, riding elephants, canoeing, a jungle walk and dodging goats, elephants, chickens, motor bikes, tractors & cars & whatever else ran out in front of you, while exploring the streets of Chitwan on a pushie, I practiced.
Lucky I did as Rabina’s first words to me when we returned were "have you practiced your dance moves"!.
Meeting the girls has been an amazing experience. I love giving them my camera each visit and looking through the photos when I return to the hotel to see what pictures they have taken. Junu seems to particularly like taking photos of the flowers in the garden. For someone so young she is particularly creative as she gets you to pose in front of a rose bush, pretending the rose is tucked behind your ear.
Every single one of the girls has an infectious smile. Each day ends with giving us a kiss and hug, absolutely priceless.
I am really looking forward to taking the girls on an excursion on Saturday and continuing to get to know more about each girl individually.
